Well here we are, day one of the new year. Page one of the next three hundred and sixty-five of a new chapter in our lives. How we choose to write it, is up to us, we’re holding the pen.

Out of curiosity, I did some research into who or what prompted humankind to begin declaring resolutions at the end of each year for the new year, because let’s be honest, only a teeny-tiny percentage of people actually follow-through on their declarations till the end of the year. Turns out, it all started about 4000 years ago, according to Wikipedia, with the Babylonians who made promises to their gods at the start of each year, that they would return borrowed objects and pay their debts. Then came the Romans who began each year by making promises to the god Janus, for whom the month of January is named. It all makes sense, but I’ve made countless resolutions in years past, only to give up or completely forget about them two or three months into the new year. You know what they say about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. There’s a term for that.

2017 was a blessing of a year, with new challenges that required intense forward-thinking and strategizing, and for that I am grateful, because growth stems from the foundations laid by overcoming challenges. So for the new year, rather than making a list of resolutions, I intend to just live my life as fully as I possibly can. I declare 2018 to be the year of our content here at BONNE Media and January specifically, to be all about recalibration.

Vacations and staycations, dressing to compliment our bodies, for the activities that we’re engaged in, being health conscious and getting in the best shape possible, in fun and satisfying ways, and the best features and conversation pieces to both keep us up-to-date on what’s going on around us, and to help manifest the very best versions of ourselves.

Here’s to the new year, all it’s abundances, and overcoming the obstacles and challenges that will help us evolve into new and elevated beings.

Warmly,
