There’s a mood in London this season that in some sense can be described as balanced optimism. The spring collections is usually a time for designers to embrace color and somewhat push the boundaries, as far as the cuts and silhouettes of their menswear, without going too far and risk alienating the men who are too conservative and skeptical to try anything that is too bold or innovative, or to be blunt, that will question their masculinity. Where there was color, it accompanied overly masculine silhouettes and when boundaries were pushed, it was along with black or solid colors. Baby steps, I guess…
