London College of Fashion’s Master of Arts graduates kicked-off the Fall/Winter 2018 fashion season at London Fashion Week Men’s this morning and two graduates’ final collections caught our attention. Han Xu and Bo Xu both presented strong collections that are right up there with more established designers. Interestingly, it was all about the coats for them both.
Chinese designer, Han Xu’s collection of oversized, color blocked coats in pastel colors, explored curves, light, and colour. In an interview with LCF, Xu explained that she considered the impact of spatial awareness in oversized garments and how this affected design.
Like Han, Bo Xu is also a Chinese designer. His collection focused on craftsmanship like hand-weaving techniques, crochet, hand-knitting, and fringe-making techniques, all of which can clearly be seen in the coats.
I have high hopes for both of these graduates and really, all those who showed today. You guys killed it!
